Embracing Awkward

This post is Day #30 in the 31 Days to a Better Work + Life Balance series.

Today has to be short and sweet because it's really last minute and I still need to finish sewing Halloween costumes for my little Batman and Robin duo:)

Speaking of Halloween - I absolutely love seeing all of the awesome, homemade, thrown-together, sometimes ridiculous ideas others come up with. People are not afraid to risk looking silly or awkward on this holiday and that's what makes it so fun!

I think our culture is too afraid of being awkward on a regular basis.

The minute we feel like we might fail or not measure up to the ideal Pinterest-perfect picture, we escape. We quit before it gets messy. But running away from a challenge is no way to live. When scary opportunities come up, we have to take advantage of them. That's how we truly give ourselves a chance to grow.

My goal for us today is to embrace the awkward. Take some scary risks. Try some things that no one else is doing. Let there be a chance of failure or being ridiculed and misunderstood. Sometimes awkward turns out to be awfully lovely.
