For The Days You Want To Quit
This post is Day #23 in the 31 Days to a Better Work + Life Balance series.
"I don't feel like doing anything."
"I don't have enough followers/sales. I'm not where I want to be."
"Ugh this is too hard!"
"Can I just stay in pajamas, eat ice cream and watch shows all day?"
Don't laugh! I know you've had days like this too!
Maybe our to do list is too long or the jobs seem too overwhelming.
Maybe we saw a competitor doing well and got discouraged.
Someone might have left us a complaint or negative feedback.
We might be feeling awful physically and all we want to do is crawl back into bed.
But honestly is that REALLY what we want?
I know that on the days I'm lazy I feel even worse because I know I didn't accomplish anything or take care of what I needed to. It only adds stress and guilt because I put things off and left more work for tomorrow. Plus laying around after eating a few bowls of ice cream does not feel good. (Not that I'd know anything about that haha)
So here's what's true...yes it's hard!
But we do it anyway.
Despite what people say.
Despite how much longer it takes us than everyone else.
Despite feeling tired, sick or hurting.
Because we want good things.
We want to feel good about the work we did and the effort we gave.
We want to be able to say, "I did an awesome job even if God's the only one who noticed."
I don't want to live grumpy and bitter about today. I want to take hold of the sweet in-between moments, thankful for all I have so far and excited for what's to come.
No giving up.
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9
