Baby Love // Simon James
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” Luke 2:14
Merry Christmas!
We got a super special gift this year...a sweet baby boy!
Baby #3, Simon James was born on December 19th so we've been spending our time recovering, snuggling and washing a LOT of laundry. (FYI - Newborn boys pee the second you open their diaper. You gotta be quick!)
Having a baby right around Christmas has changed our perspective of the Christmas story so much. It was strange to be 39 weeks pregnant, large and awkward, constantly in pain or uncomfortable...and then to picture riding a donkey? Giving birth in a stable? Even just the idea of looking down at this tiny newborn and seeing your King = pretty insane.
I love seeing the great lengths our God will go for us. Even the name, Emmanuel, meaning "God with us" shows us His love. He didn't create us and then forget all about us. He isn't distant and uncaring. He physically came down in the midst of our chaos, willing to be uncomfortable and in pain. He knew we needed a hope and peace and that there was only one solution. He made a way for us.
This tiny baby became our rescue.
I'm feeling pretty blown away by that as I hold this new little guy in my lap.
This Christmas season has been a bit of a hard one for some of our family and friends. I don't know if you can relate, but it's really tough to celebrate a season of joy and coming together when things are feeling a bit broken.
This little baby has been a great reminder for me that peace and joy can exist in the midst of pain and brokenness.
Sometimes it's enough just to know that Jesus, our "God with us," is near.
Praying His peace over you today, friends.
How has your holiday been? Any extra sweet moments?
